Describe your company in a few sentences.
Our company is a boutique brokerage, created by Chloe Lewis and I based on 20 years of industry experience and a deep-rooted personal friendship.
We are a close team along with our advisor, dean, and administrator Stevie, all of whom have been friends for years. This internal synergy defines our clients’ approach.
We operate without a marketing strategy or formal providers, and grow only through word-of-mouth referrals. Our typical client varies from a first-time buyer to a high-net-worth individual requiring a loan of over £1m, and we offer the same high-level service to everyone.
Our ethos is transparency and efficiency. We deliver results through open communication, and treat each client with the care we would our own family.
We can attract ‘new blood’ by highlighting the social, entrepreneurial and rewarding aspect of helping people return home
What prompted you to become a mediator?
I began my career with a spark of early ambition. I started working as a cashier in a bank when I was 17, and by 18 I had secured my first role as a mortgage advisor.
To complement my experience, I spent some time as an underwriter. Although it didn’t suit my outgoing personality, it gave me an invaluable look behind the curtain into how lenders assess risk; It’s a skill I still use to wrap cases today.
I later spent seven years at a major estate agency in South West London, thriving in that high-paced environment and achieving record results. However, the ultimate goal was self-government.
Chloe and I knew we could combine our experience to create something special, and going freelance remains the best decision of my career.
The early years require tremendous hard work and long hours to build the foundation. However, there are very few professions that provide this level of future independence
What are your plans for the future of your company?
The plan is to remain boutique forever. In the age of AI models for upcoming automated transactions, the value of relationship-based advice has never been higher.
Our role extends beyond application. We coach clients on presentations and manage the journey through to completion. To protect this standard, we leverage technology as an “enabler.”
We have been paperless for years and use sophisticated online tools to simplify heavy administrative burdens. This allows us to handle more customer relationships without losing the personal touch.
The aim is to remain a technologically advanced small business in London, using the latest tools to make the process more efficient for our customers.

What’s the one thing lenders can do to improve brokers’ lives the most?
The most important factor remains the quality of the business development manager (BDM) relationship.
Lenders should not lose sight of how important the responsiveness of the infrastructure building mechanism is to the ecosystem. A great BDM is a front-line problem solver.
Some lenders may want to shy away from BDM support because of the costs, but this is a mistake. The key is responsiveness and technical knowledge. If an email is not responded to within 24 hours, this case may be placed elsewhere. To truly improve our lives, lenders must enable BDMs to be critical and accessible.
What advice do you have for a broker just starting out?
Prioritize building relationships over quick commissions. If you truly care about the customer journey, they will become your greatest advocate.

I won’t exaggerate this: the early years require very hard work and long hours to build the foundation. However, there are very few professions that provide this level of future independence.
How can the industry encourage new acceptance of brokers?
We must rebrand for the next generation. Many young people dismiss brokerage as a “boring office job”, but we must promote the fact that it offers real independence and a results-driven lifestyle.
I often work in a t-shirt, take mid-day gym breaks and prioritize my well-being, yet my business is growing. We must show potential brokers that although the beginning is daunting, the reward is a professional life with complete flexibility.
